Simple working example?

i am 3 hours in on this plugin and still can not get it to work. tried different versions of jquery, verified all scripts are loading, tried inline styles, tried external styles. painful.

usually jquery plugins have an html example page that includes a very simple working example, sometimes even including the correct version of jquery in its path. so you download it, doubleclick on the example.html file, and you have something working that you can then play with and migrate into your project.

anyone know of something similar for qTip? going through the forum here it does not look like i am the first to have this problem...

Honestly, I don't know why this isn't he first thing people do. If you go to the documents section of this site, there is a simple, straightforward explanation of how to install the thing, complete with code.

The problem: if I cut and paste the code and open up a new page to test it, it doesn't work. Clearly the code is designed to be manipulated and it doesn't work without putting something in the divs and making styles for them. And if this was the only thing I had to do to make my project work, I'm sure that would not be a problem.

But it's this and ten other things today and ten things tomorrow, each of which is new to me, each of which has a learning curve, each of which will require me to find working examples and then learn how to fix them and integrate them into my project. Each of which has ten or twenty or a hundred different approaches, each with tutorials I can find on the web.

I do not have time to work through each one just to see if the thing works.

If there isn't a downloadable/copy&pastable example that I can plug in to a blank document and test, the tutorial is useless and the product is worthless to me.

The well-thought out, thorough explanation is great, but it can wait. The first thing your users need is an example. If they can't figure it out from that, an explanation would be great, but most of us can. We wouldn't be doing this if we didn't have some idea how it works. And if we are and we don't, there's jQuery for Dummies to gives us the basics. What I need is an example that works so I can see the code. I'll figure out the rest. Thanks.

Incidentally, this may be what you're looking for. Haven't tried it yet, but it at least appears to be an example. Buried in the forums. Most easily findable through google search. But there it is.
